Ferry Bridge is at the start of the causeway that leads to the Isle of Portland in bridge spans the mouth of the Fleet lagoon which empties into Portland Harbour. The Fleet lagoon is situated behind Chesil beach and is 13km long. It is noted for its wildlife and the area is popular with visitors, birdwatchers and anglers.
