Imagine this headto be in the position <?,and the pegs will be heldforward so long as thegroove runs parallel with the front edge of the disc, and if the frame is sinkingat the same time, the film will be pulled down. Whenthe pegs arrive at the bottom of their stroke, the inclinedportion of the cam-groove arrives at the position 0^ therod connected with the pegs is drawn back the widthof the edge of the disc, and the pegs are consequentlywithdrawn from the film, which remains stationary whilethe frame is rising and until such time as a reverse.
