Lactarius volemus, Lactarius subdulcis, Lactarius mitissimus, Lactarius deliciosus & Clavaria rugosa in Mordecai Cooke's 'British Edible Fungi', 1891.

Coloured Plate 9 from 'British Edible Fungi' by Mordecai Cooke, published in 1891. Cooke was a well-known 19th century Victorian expert on British mushrooms and fungus - a sort of David Attenborough in the botanical world at that period in history. - Fungi shown: Lactarius volemus - Weeping Milk Cap [28] Lactarius subdulcis - Mild Milkcap, Beech Milk Cap [29] Lactarius mitissimus - Orange Milkcap [30] Lactarius deliciosus - Saffron Milk Cap [31] Clavaria rugosa - Wrinkled Club Fungus [32] - The pages of the old original book are variously foxed (yellowed) and I have digitally cleaned up serious page blemishes and print imperfections, and the occasional page tear, stain, or crease, while pushing the curves in LR to lift the darkness of the yellow page tint. Desaturation is not an option because parts of fungi shown are yellow, & a similar tale with lightening the yellow channel. Flood filling the blank areas with a light tone is an option.
