Edison, ofMenlo Park, in the State of New Jersey, haveinvented an Improvement in Speaking-Tele-graphs, of which the following is a specifica-tion : I make use of two or more cells containinga mobile fluid,, and these fluids are insulatedfrom each other except when they come to-gether at a narrow opening or space, and thereis an electrode in each cell, and the diaphragmor other body vibrated by the atmosphericsound - waves regulates the opening or thepressure at this poiut, so as to vary the elec-tric tension on the line to correspond with thesound vibrations.
