Northern’s “new” flexi unit trains entered revenue earning service on 17th May 2021, this one just about to arrive at Parbold station in Lancashire.


After long delays Northern’s “new” flexi trains have entered passenger carrying service on the line from and to Southport from the Manchester area. This was the first revenue earning service from Manchester Victoria to Southport, seen approaching Parbold. This was hrs departure from Manchester Vic is here at on a misty May morning. These are electric multiple units that have been moved up from the south of the country and been reengineered with a diesel engine added to the electrical capability of the train.
