Tlierc should bo a good incchanical agitator of the paddletype, preferably arranged so that it can be worked with thepump handle without operating the pump. An agitator isessential to keeping the mixture in suspension. Agitators of theso-called jet-type, in which a stream from the bottom of the. The pump should be so attached to the barrel that it canbe quickly removed for repairs. Those pumps which have lugsfor attaching the pump plate to the barrel are much better with screws.
