Hooded vulture (Necrosyrtes monachus) in flight. This bird is native to sub-Saharan Africa. It has dark brown plumage and a light red face. Hooded vultures typically scavenge on carcasses of wildlife. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (ICUN) has classed this species as 'critically endangered' in their 2022 assessment.
