The Sultan Mosque, located at the Kampong Glam district, is one of Singapore's most important mosque. The mosque was originally built by Sultan Hussain from 1824 to 1826. The current mosque was completed in 1928 to replace the old mosque which was in a poor state and also to accommodate its expanding community. The area surrounding the mosque is today a popular hangout for locals and tourists alike who like its laid back feel dotted with cafes and a mixture of local and muslim eateries.
