SIEMENS & HALSKE FACTOEY BUBNED. The factory of the Siemens & Halske ElectricCompany, of America, in Chicago, was destroyedby fire on the night of August 1st. It is estimated. Panhard &. Levassor Daimler Motor Carriage. that the loss will reach §300,000, and the insurancecarried was about $110,000. The destruction ofthe building was complete, and a large amount ofmachinery which the company was constructingwas utterly ruined. The generators designed for the Toronto Street Railway Company were de-stroyed ; considerable of this machinery was aboutready for delivery. The company was fortunatein saving its books, drawings and patterns. Theplans of the company are not announced, but ithas determined not to cancel any of its contracts ;so that it must make arrangements for resumingmanufacture at once.
