Holland. Netherlands. Excludes Limburg (Treaty of London). LIZARS 1842 old map
Holland. Artist/engraver/cartographer: William Home Lizars. Provenance: "Lizars' Edinburgh Geographical General Atlas: containing maps of every Empire, State and Kingdom…", Edinburgh; Lizars, 3, St James' Square; S. Highley, 32 Fleet Street, London; and W. Curry, Jun., & Co., Dublin. Type: Antique 19th century atlas map with original hand colouring. The map does not reflect the then-recent 1839 Treaty of London, which divided the the province of Limburg in two, with the eastern part going to the Netherlands and the western part to Belgium, a division that remains today. "Holland" as shown excludes Limburg, which hitherto had been under Belgian rule.
