PHILADELPHIA, USA: A picture of the enclosed promenade. THIS ABANDONED luxury ocean liner that once carried royalty, US presidents and celebrity A-listers across the world is now saved from the scrapheap it has been announced. In its heyday the passenger list of the SS United stated read like the great and good of Hollywood including Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Charlton Heston, John Wayne as well as British superstars such as Sean Connery and Elizabeth Taylor. The ship was even fit for royalty such as Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly along with four US presidents, including Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy and Clinton who would have once walked along the decks and enjoyed dinner at the Captain’s table. Sadly, this towering majestic beauty now lies stripped and abandoned, moored in place in Philadelphia, USA while its fate was being decided, until the non-profit SS United States Conservancy Group was able to strike a deal last month to bring it back into active use. Photographer Matthew Christopher (38) from Philadelphia, USA was able to get permission from the conservancy group to explore this historic floating mega structure.
