The fashioning of log canoes required considerabletime and some degree of skill. A perfectly straight, or along-curved smooth section of log was chosen. The barkwas peeled and the ends shaped to the curved point upper surface of the log was slabbed off and the cavityoutlined by adzing and chipping.
