Owing to the desirability of connecting the power house with the )ranch line to Niagara-on-the-Lake at Queenston, it was deemed necessary to con-struct a spur-line through Queenston along the foot of the escarpment to the PowerHouse site. Permission was secured from the Niagara Falls Parks Commission,Ordnance Branch of the Department of the Interior, Canada Steamship Lines, the\illage of , and International Railway for the location alongthe Niagara River. In order to dispose of the large amount of material necessary. to be e.\cavated ou the Power House site, and owing to the peculiar topographicalfeatures of Queenston, a proposal was made to the International Railway to extendits line along Queen street to the Ravine, in which it was proposed to locate theConstruction Railway. After considerable negotiations this agreement was effected,and the Commission will construct the roadbed on which the International Railwayand the Commission will have joint running rights, giving the latter access tothe water front and to the Power House, in return for which the InternationalRailway has agreed to permit the disposal of all material on the Power House siteon lands owned by it at Queenston. Niagara Construction Railway During the year the Commission decided to purchase two more electricallyoperated shovels which necessitated additional locomotives and sub-station equip-ment. This work was handled almost entirelv bv the Meclianical Section of the 1920 HYDRO-ELECTRIC
