I captured this image in the pre-dawn twilight/ early "blue hour" in the Lassen County California high desert. The image features an old abandoned small structure (I’m told it may have been a cowboy line shack) under the stars. Just above the ridgeline to the left of the building you can see the triple planet rise of, Venus, Saturn, and Mars, left to right. Just in the frame to the right of the building you can see the constellation Scorpius. I created the image by shooting multiple sky images and “stacking” them to reduce the digital “noise” that results when shooting at very his ISO sensitivity to expose the stars. I then blended the sky image to several frames in which I “lightpainted” the building with a hand held flashlight.
