PACIFIC OCEAN (Feb. 2, 2017) – Amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA6) conducts weapons testing with the MK-38 testing as part of combat systems sea qualifications trials. The MK-38 is a defensive weapon used to protect the ship against low flying aircraft, small boats and swimmers. America is currently underway conducting routine operations in preparation for deployment later this year.
