José Patiño (1670-1736). Secretary of the Navy and the Indies under King Philip V of Spain. He undertook the reorganisation of the Navy and founded the Naval Military Academy. In 1718 he formed the Compañia de Caballeros Guardiamarinas (Royal Company of Maritime Guards). Portrait. Engraving.
