Gelug-pa (Yellow Hat) monks enter the courtyard for the Gustor Festival, Spituk Gompa, Leh, Ladakh


The annual Gustor festival, celebrated at Spituk Gompa (11th month of Tibetan Calendar) is famous for marking victory over evil since the 11th century. The current monastery buildings date to the 15th century. Huge crowds of worshipers and monks come from far and wide to the festival. Gelug-pa (Yellow Hat) monks come down the stairs to the courtyard at the beginning of the Gustor Festival
