D8188 (20188) along with 66609 and 6610 are engaged on CTRL engineers trains at Singlewell. During the construction of phase one of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) between the Channel Tunnel and Fawkham Junction a number of privately owned class 20s were hired in to power engineers trains along the line to and from the base at Beechbrook Farm. The CTRL was later re-named High Speed 1 (HS1) after completion of phase two of the line between Ebbsfleet and London St Pancras. Singlewell Loops. 9th October 2002.
