Phosgenite in galenite. Close-up of a phosegenite crystal (centre) in a sample of galenite rock (galena). Phosgenite is a rare lead chloro-carbonate that occurs only as a secondary mineral in lead deposits. Galenite is a primary mineral with widespread occurrence and is the main ore of lead. This sample was found in the Monte Poni lead mines, Sardinia, and measures 25mm across.
