Troopship Leviathan, carrying 9,470 troops, mostly African Americans, including the 371st and 372nd Infantry complete, along with part of the 368th and 2,132 sick and wounded soldiers, arrives at Pier 4 in Hoboken, NJ on March 10, 1919. The 371st and 372nd were decorated with Croix de Guerre and were brigaded with the French. The image shows the Leviathan entering New York harbor, viewed from the police boat "Patrol" used by the Mayor's Committee of Welcome.
