As predicted by the writer a few weeks ago, this was the best Christinas ever experienced by local florists. Every retail man spoken to so far says his sales ran away ahead of last year's. It appears that the only flower which was not in as heavy demand as ex- pected was the carnation. Possibly this' is due to the great demand for baskets of ferns, etc. These are purchased by those who would otherwise fall back on flowers less expensive than roses. The demand for Beauties this year was exceedingly good. Red roses also cleaned up well. Violets were quite popular. In plants the demand was especially heavy for azaleas, poinsettias and be- gonias. Baskets also sold well. Various Notes. Asman & Dunn report a big holiday trade, as do J. K. Stock and George Davis. The L. Bemb Floral Co. was kept on the jump every minute. This firm has an extensive telegraph trade and no doubt handles the bulk of the out-of-town orders coming to this city. The com- pany also specializes in table decorat- ing, and this work alone keeps con- siderable help busy. John Breitmeyer's Sons, it is needless "to say, had .all they could comfortably handle.
