Altar "San Francisco Javier"


The Spanish mission of San Francisco Javier was initially founded by the Jesuit missionary. Miguel del Barco He oversaw the construction of the outstanding stone church at San Javier. The building has been called "the jewel of the Baja California mission churches". Its beautiful interior was decorated with three baroque carved and gilded wooden altar-pieces, made on the mainland Mexico in the middle of the 18th Century and brought by ship and mules from Tepozotlan.
