Mother Lyudmila looks at her son Vova (27) in his bed in the city of Slovyansk, Donbas, as his son was born paralysed and needs to be taken care of 24/7. Although the Russian advance is getting closer and closer, some of the citizens in Slovyansk for various reasons decided to stay behind. Slovyansk with a population of 106,972 (2021 est.), now stands as a main strategic city in the Donetsk region of Donbas, as the city has continuously been heavily bombarded by Russian artilleries and missiles, since the war started, over 80% of the civilian have already evacuated.
