FIRST LESSONS IN CHRISTIAN TRUTH. The Special Committee on the Preparation of a Manual ofInstruction Adapted to Young Children, presented their Ee-port, together with the Catechism referred to them by the lastGeneral Synod for revision. The Report was accepted andadopted, and the Catechism entitled First Lessons in Chris-tian Truth, was unanimously approved. The Report is as follows : I. HISTORY OF THE COMMITTEE. In view of the possible adoption of the constitutionalamendment, submitted by the General Synod of 1887 for theapproval of the Classes, forbidding the use of any catechismsexcept such as are approved and recommended by theGeneral Synod, which would leave pastors and teacherswithout any doctrinal text book for the instruction of youngchildren, the same General Synod (Minutes, page 321) ap-pointed a Committee to prepare and submit A Manual ofInstruction in the Doctrines of the Church, Adapted to YoungChildren. That Committee performed the duty assigned to them,
