Artist/engraver/cartographer: Jean Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville. Provenance: The map was extracted from a composite atlas of early 18th century maps, the latest of which was dated c1754. Type: Large antique 18th century atlas map, printed on thick, good quality paper with original outline hand colour/color . The map shows part of alps; the area falls predominantly into Haute-Savoie, with part of Savoie at the bottom and part of Swiss Valais in the north east corner. The Places marked on the map include the following towns and present-day winter sports/ski resorts (spelling may vary from the modern variation): Bonneville, Martigny, Cluses, Chamonix, Megève, Sallanches, St Gervais, Le Grand Bournand, Flumet, Samoëns, Les Gets, Morzine, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe.
