Coast Guard Captain Charles Dean, of Pascagoula, Miss., pins a purple heart on Fred Hegeman, pharmacist's mate third class, USN, of 92 Bowden Rd., Cedar Grove, N. J., aboard a Coast Guard-manned invasion transport which participated in the landings at Leyte in the Philippines. Hegeman is the son of Mrs. Anna D. Hegeman.
