View NE of the late C19th (1889) burial chapel built by Lady McTaggart Stewart of Ardwell at Kirkmadrine, Rhinns of Galloway, Scotland, UK. The memorial cross is to John McTaggart who died in 1810. The chapel is cut into the mound covering the site of an Early Christian monastery & burial ground, & the later remains of a C13th church dedicated to St Mathurinus. Several funerary monuments from the early cemetery, including cross fragments & C5th & C6th inscribed pillar stones, are on display in the glass-fronted porch at the W end of the chapel.
