He is tooproud to cash the check. It falls into the hands of aman who befriends the lad when he is down and out. The boy goes West and starts a new life and becomes aprosperous bank official. The man who had befriended him falls low in the But he has retained the check which does not belong tohim, and so as a last resort he forges the signature to it. There occurs an exciting situation. The owner of thecheck and the signature is sent for. He recognizes hisbenefactor in the would-be forger. Gratitude is strongupon him. He says the check is good and the money ispaid over to the old fellow. As showing the essential goodness that is part of humannature at times, this beautiful little story will no doubt behighly appreciated by admirers of the Imp pictures.
