Egg-sac very large, generally with many small eggs, but sometimes with few eggs of larger size (Fig. 153). In these cases the sac is very strong and the egg membrane conspicuously thick. Perhaps resting eggs (?). Colour variable. Commonly dark red, but often brown-green with blue margins to segments. Male.—Length 1 •75-2-3 mm. General form slightly more slender than in female.
