United Kingdom /London / Best of British/ Lewis Leathers / Makers of motorcycle clothing/Lewis Leathers was established in 1892 by Mr and Mrs David Lewis. Current proprietor Derek Harris is the fifth owner. Originally a general menswear outfitter, after World War I the company began to make warm clothing for the growing number of motorists and aviators who visited the showrooms. By 1955 Lewis were solely making motorcycle clothing suited to the cold and damp British climate. The company also recognised that their younger customers were looking for something new, and launched the now famous Bronx Jacket. This paved the way for the next 50 years of more and more stylish motorcycle wear.
