Rev. Joseph Shillinglaw, , the pre-sent pastor of the congregation, wasordained and inducted to the charge inOctober, 1900. After a highly successfulcareer as a student at Glasgow Universityand Glasgow Free Church College, he wasappointed assistant in St. Pauls Church,Giasgow, and laboured there for over ayear before being called to Oldmachar. threw himself into the work. Rev. Joseph Shillinglaw, with the enthusiasm of youth, and hisefforts have not been unavailing. The mem-bership has been about doubled—havingincreased from 150 to nearly 300—thedebt has been cleared off, and the buildingsrenovated to some extent. A Band ofHope has been instituted, and is now suc-cessfully conducted by one of the elders,Mr. Hendry Davidson, and the mothersmeeting, under Mrs. Shillinglaw, is anothereffective agency, while the Sunday Schoolis also maintained in elficiency under thesuperintendentship of Mr. James Thomson is now the senior elder, andhe has stood by the congregation in manyups and downs in its history. Anothermember of session who has been long asso-ciated with the congregation is Mr. RobertClark, and in the membership, although notin office, are at least two representatives ofthe University, these two being ProfessorJ.
