Immediate improvement of the Barge Terminal on Flushing Bay isbeing urged by the Queens Chamber of Commerce, to relieve the freightcongestion of the Port of New York. Plans for the Flushing Bay Ter-minal are being prepared by Frank M. Williams, State Engineer andSurveyor, and it is hoped the Flushing Terminal will be ready in 1918, when the State Barge Canal System is to be in opera-tion. 35. BIRDS-EYE VIEW OF COI THE INDUSTRIAL-MANUFACTURING COLLEGE POINT is essentially a manufacturing town—the indus-trial center of the Flushing District. It is an old settlement likeFlushing and Whitestone, both of which it immediately adjoinson Flushing Bay, and like both it is rich in its possession of old treesand old houses. It has many fine modern residences, too; and even the proximity of its scores of factoriesdoesnt seem to spoil its charm asone of New York Citys pretty homesuburbs. Here Mac Neil, the sculptor,pursues his art; nearby, at Malba, JohnMcGraw, of baseball fame, is erectinga costly edifice in which to spend hisdeclining years enjoying the trophiesand emoluments he has earned by hismastery of the great American men important in the affairs ofthe Greater City live here and like fact, something like 15,00
