Oharano Shrine Pond - Oharano Shrine is dedicated to the Fujiwara tutelary god Amenokoyane, said to have assisted in the founding of Japan. The shrine became the object of Imperial patronage during the early Heian Period. From 1871 through 1946, Ohorano Shrine was designated one of the officially government supported shrines. The area of Kyoto where it is located is remote, yet the shrine is popular especially during the autumn momiji autumn leaf viewing seson for its abundant maples.
