From the window of the Nos do Morro theater school, Vidigal's favela is seen at night. In the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a generation of young female directors has emerged since the late 2000s. Their ambition is to produce alternative narratives, far removed from the cliches of trafficking violence and the sexualization of women.
