CORONADO (Mar. 1, 2019) Capt. Brian Mutty, commanding officer of USS Essex (LHD 2), left, and Capt. Gerald Olin, commander of Amphibious Squadron ONE, speak with local media outlets upon returning from deployment. Essex, with embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is returning from a regularly scheduled deployment to the Western Pacific and Middle East. The Navy has patrolled the Indo-Pacific region routinely for more than 70 years promoting peace and security.
