Diabetes blood test, conceptual artwork. The skin of a finger is pricked to elicit a drop of blood, which is tested for glucose (sugar) levels. A molecule of glucose is seen at upper right. At lower right are syringes of insulin. Diabetes is a condition in which the pancreas fails to produce enough insulin for glucose metabolism. People with the condition need to monitor their blood sugar levels closely, and require regular insulin injections to maintain normal levels.
