Discussion The principal source of information on the systematics and distribution of the Mexican avifauna as a whole are Friedmann et al. (1950) and Miller etal. (1957). Although a recent publication (Howell & Webb 1995) updates the distributional overview, it is in an extended field-guide format and does not provide detailed geographic information for most species.
