Nathaniel and I have no trouble in preparing theroot, for it may be roasted in the ashes, boiled into apudding whichshould be well salt-ed, or mixed with themeal of Indian cornand made into a kindof sweet cake. However, we ladshave not had goodsuccess in bakingthis last dish, be-cause of the ashes which fly out of the fire when thewind blows ever so slightly.
