Victorian farmers who are part of the Stop Labour’s Towers Campaign rally at Victorian Parliament as they wish for their voices to be heard. 45 tractors and other agricultural vehicles are doing loops of Melbourne CBD as farmers and members of the farming community protest on the front steps of Parliament in Victoria. They are calling for Daniel Andrew’s Labour government to abolish the plans for a high voltage transmission network which would see 190 kilometres of electricity towers erected across rural farmland. Organisers, the Regional Victoria Power Alliance have asked for support and proposed attendees arrive in a tractor, a truck, a ute, on horse back or just a presence on the steps of Parliament. They believe much more work needs to be done to address concerns around how this will affect farming and the natural habitat. Some placards read; “Dan Andrews’s Access Denied!”, “Stop The Towers” and “Not on my farm”. Credit: Joshua Preston/Alamy Live News
