Ouse Valley Viaduct, Balcombe -1


Completed in March 1841 for the London & Brighton Railway, it is constructed of 37 semi-circular arches with pierced piers and is 1,475 ft long. The viaduct is 96feet high and 11 million bricks were used in its construction, the parapets are of Caen stone. The engineer was John Rastrick and the architect David Mocatta.
