Gravestones of war dead from France's north african colonies at the Nécropole nationale de Sigolsheim (national necropolis) in Alsace
The necropolis, standing up 124 steps on top of a hill, contains the graves of 1,684 French soldiers killed in 1944. The hill was known by the Germans as Blutberg (blood hill)
