Met Office communications. Met Office workers using teleprinters to send and receive weather reports and forecasts. The Met Office is the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service. A variety of communication methods have been used during its history. Teleprinters allow typed messages to be sent as a signal and printed at the receiving end. These teleprinters also use punched tape inputs and outputs. The worker at left is handling one of these strips of punched tape, and one is also seen at lower right.
