Marine Corps Cpl. Ryan Lewis, an MV-22B Osprey crew chief with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265, conducts start-up procedures on an MV-22B Osprey during Keen Sword 23 at Kumamoto Airport, Japan, Nov. 15, 2022. Keen Sword is a biennial training event that exercises the combined capabilities and lethality developed between the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force and the Japan Self Defense Force (JSDF). This bilateral field-training exercise between the Military and JSDF strengthens interoperability and combat readiness of the Alliance.
