Material A single specimen, SAM-PCA1880, preserving recrystallized test, from Bed IV. Description The specimen is a loose gently arched fragment with subelliptical whorl section (H/W= ). Ornament comprises 5 strong annular ribs in a distance equal to the majordiameter. These cross the dorsum and venter obliquely, becoming crowded on thedorsum. There are no flared ribs or constrictions, and the suture is not displayed. Discussion Although the general impression of Puebloites greenhornensis Cobban & Scott is of amore-densely ribbed form, the Angolan example falls within the range of variationdisplayed by the Colorado species. Early Turonian P. spiralis Cobban & Scott (1973: 46,pi. 18 (figs 1-5), pi. 19 (figs 1-6)) is more densely ribbed, with narrower sharper ribs, as is 104 ANNALS OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN MUSEUM. Figure 9 A. UPPER CRETACEOUS (TURONIAN-CONIACIAN) AMMONITES FROM SAO NICOLAU, ANGOLA 105 P. corrugatus (Stanton) (Cobban & Scott, 1973: 45, pi. 18 (figs 6-19), fig. 17) andP. matsumotoi (Collignon) (1967: 47, pi. 28 (figs 3-4)) at similar growth stage. As notedby Cobban & Scott (1973), the specimen of Diplomocerasl cascadense Anderson figuredby Basse (1963: 874, pi. 23 (fig. 4)), from the Upper Turonian of Angola, may beP. corrugatus. The Scalarites sp. indet. of Collignon (1967, pi. 18 (fig. 2)) is too fragmentary foradequate comparison, but may belong here. So too may the Glyptoxoceras cf. indicum(Forbes) of Renz (1982: 73, pi. 22 (figs
