Great Glens like Glen Shee and Glen Prosen, are popular with skiers and hillwalkers. Glen Prosen is the most westerly of the Angus Glens The area is notable for some of its beautful scenery of the mountains and the Strathmore valley. Prosen is usually approached from a junction on the Glen Clova road just north of the village of Dykehead. There is a cairn which commemorates the planning in a nearby house of the ill-fated 1912 Antarctic expedition by Captain Scott and Dr Wilson. The cairn notes that it was erected in 1981 to replace a memorial fountain placed here in 1919, but accidentally destroyed Nearby Forfar town holds many events throughout the year such as the bi-annual Forfar Mara-Fun, which raises money for charity and the annual Forfar Food Festival highlighting some of the local food. There is also a monthly Farmers' Market. Agriculture and Tourism are some of Forfars major industries. It also acts as an administrative centre for Angus Council - with a new multi-million pound office complex currently being built on the outskirts of the town.
