The installation maybe varied according to the needs of the radiographer, the important pointbeing to provide a high standard of efficiency, combined with the possibilityof rapid movement if such be required. The efficiency will depend upon theknowledge the operator has of his apparatus. He should be conversant withthe mechanical details of all parts, and should be able to pack, re-install, andget into working order quickly. Practice will soon enable him to do all that. One or more medical radiographers should accompany eachinstallation, and several orderlies or nurses must be trained to carry on thework at any time. In the case of large armies there must necessarily be several installationsworking at various places. To facilitate rapid work a system must beemployed. The difficult cases may be transferred to the hospitals at home if thepatient is in a condition to travel and the symptoms are not urgent.
