Blackpool Saturday December 1st 2012. Protesters against a UK 'Dash to Gas' and fracking for shale gas, marching on the streets of Lytham St Annes en-route to Caudrilla’s Drill Site Anna's Road, off North Houses Lane, St Annes, Blackpool, Lancashire. Anti-fracking protesters want drilling to stop until risks are fully assessed.

Cuadrilla, one of four with a permit to search for shale gas in Britain, has 10 sites so far, most of which are in Lancashire, Homeowners in the Fylde coast area, which extends from Lytham and St Annes at its southern most point to Knott End and Preesall in the north, have reported problems even before gas extraction commences. BBC News reported "A company carrying out shale gas extraction has announced plans to drill a second well at a site in Lancashire. Cuadrilla is submitting a planning application for a horizontal well for "information purposes" in addition to its vertical one at Anna's Road, St Annes. Cuadrilla's Mark Miller said it would be "invaluable" for finding out more about natural gas in the area. Anti-fracking protesters want it to stop until risks are fully assessed. The company said the second well was "purely for analysing the shale rock and will not be used for extracting gas."
