In the lie de France, on theother hand, a form of vault perfectly applicable to naves hadlong been understood, and at least several naves had alreadybeen successfully vaulted on the quadripartite system. Underthese circumstances it is much easier to imderstand the originof the sexpartite system in Normandy than in the He deFrance.
