Lion's mane jellyfish (Cyanea capillata) being observed by a scuba diver. The species is coloured according to size: large ones are crimson to dark purple; smaller specimens pale pinkish, orange or brown. as it swims its mass of thin tentacles swirls around the bell. There are eight sets of tentacles each containing 70 to 150 individual tentacles. This specimen measures almost a metre across. Tasman Peninsula, Tasmania
