The view of Dostyk street (previously Lenin street) in Kazakhstan's largest city, one of the biggest Cebtral Asia's cities and former capital of Almaty (or in Russian version of Alma-Ata). Almaty is located near the Alatau mountains (seen in the back ground) where many Kazakhs and foreign tourist visit skiing resort of Chymboulak. The city was founded as Russian fort Verny in mid 19th century, while in the past it was an important stop on Silk Road in the territories of Kazakh's uly juz (upper zhuz or union of clans)
